It's been a while....

I can't believe it's been over a year since my last post. So much has happened over the past year. This month Christopher started his first year of pre-school and Victoria is in first grade. How time flies. Robert and I have celebrated our sixth year wedding anniversary and Victoria graduated from Kindergarten. My little Vanessa is growing so much, she talks all day long and she has started calling me Mommy instead of just mom, Christopher and Victoria never did.

Maria Elena Martinez Fuentes

My friend Elena will be missed. She held a special place in everyone's hearts with her laughter and kind heart. She was a beautiful person who loved to do things for others. I know God called her as it was her time to go, but it is very hard to understand why he decided to take her in such a tragic way. Please say a special prayer for all her family and friends as we are all grieving.

Below is an atricale about the accident:

Yesterday morning’s accident on Catalina Road, in which a large Jeffrey Pine fell on a single moving vehicle, resulted in the death of Elena Martinez, a 31-year-old resident of Big Bear Lake. Martinez had earlier this year married her childhood sweetheart Francisco, with whom she had four children (15-year-old Lucero, 13-year-old Francisco, 8-year-old Cece, and 2-year-old Grace). A devoted mother, Martinez was also an employee of Big Bear Cool Cabins. Her friend and co-worker, Johanna Reyes of Big Bear Cool Cabins, tells KBHR, “Elena was a very hard worker, and helped us with housekeeping and reservations. She was a great friend to me, and helped everyone with anything that she could. She was always smiling, and she made everyone feel at home.” In addition to brightening the office at Big Bear Cool Cabins with her warmth and homemade food, Martinez was devoted to her family. Adds friend Reyes, “Elena was a beautiful mom. She did everything for those kids, and was busy planning her daughter’s quinceaƱera. She was always very giving, loving, and had a big heart; Elena was also very funny, energetic, and full of life.” Though no memorial service has yet been planned for Martinez, her coworkers are today establishing a memorial fund in her name at Union Bank.

Rest in Peace Elena we all love and miss you. You will be in our hearts forever.

Promotion

Yesterday I received a promotion at work. I am now General Manager at Cool Cabins. It is bitter sweet though being that Robert was laid off and no longer work there. Everything happens for a reason and I believe that he will find another career real soon. I am happy about the promotion and it will given me oppourtunities to grow with the company as well as earning a higher salary.

Victoria 4 Years 9 Months

My first baby, oh how I loved her when she was born. Everything was so scary, yet so sweet. She was so tiny at birth that I was afraid to hold her. She weighed a total of 4 lbs, 3 oz. We didn't get to bring her home from the hospital until she was two weeks old and had gained a little more weight. How would anyone ever be able to tell she came into the world at half the wight of a normal size baby girl. She is such a sweet little girl and I love her more and more every day. She will be 5 in July and she is a PC, you know as they say in the commericals.

Chocolate Malted Crunch

Next to the Founder's Favorite at Cold Stone, Chocolate Malted Crunch from Rite-Aid (formerly Thrifty) is my favorite ice cream flavor. I decided to blog about it becuase I am home on vacation this week and have a majot craving for it. I don't however feel like driving 20 minutes into town to get some in a large sugar cone. Maybe I will feel like driving later on tonight.
